General Questions (All Venues)

Is there a bag policy at SAFE District venues?

Yes. All guests are subject to bag checks and security screening at every event, and smaller bags are strongly encouraged to speed up entry. Backpacks and coolers are not permitted, lockers are not available, and prohibited items cannot be checked or held at Guest Services or Security. See the full Bag Policy and Prohibited Items page

What items are prohibited inside the venues?

Prohibited items include outside food and beverages; bottles and cans (except permitted water bottles); backpacks, coolers, and portable chairs; weapons of any kind; cameras with flash or detachable lenses, tripods, monopods, GoPros, and selfie sticks; audio or video recording equipment; laser pointers and noise-making devices; balloons, signs, flags, and banners; alcohol, drugs, and flasks; and any other item deemed unsafe or disruptive by venue staff. You may bring an unopened, factory-sealed water bottle or an empty reusable bottle to fill at water stations inside. Full list here.

Do SAFE District venues accept cash?

No — all concessions are cashless. Credit and debit cards are accepted at every venue.

How do digital tickets work?

Add your tickets to your smartphone wallet or access them in the Ticketmaster app before you arrive. Charge your phone, connect to the venue’s free Wi-Fi, and have your ticket ready to scan at the door. Tickets are available online on Ticketmaster, by phone, or in person at the venue box office window beginning 2 hours before the performance.

What are the box office hours and phone number?

The box office is available by phone at 916-808-5181, Tuesday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Walk-up windows at each venue open 2 hours before the performance; in-person sales are not available on non-show days. All ticket sales are final, with no refunds or exchanges except when an event is canceled or rescheduled. More information here

Do children need a ticket?

Age and ticket requirements vary by event. Before purchasing, call the box office at 916-808-5181 for age guidance on your specific show — some performances welcome all ages, while others have minimum age recommendations.

Can I take photos or videos during a show?

Professional camera equipment — cameras with flash or detachable lenses, tripods, monopods, GoPros, and selfie sticks — and audio or video recording devices are prohibited in all venues. Photography rules beyond that vary by performer and production, so check your event’s page or listen for announcements at the show.

Is re-entry allowed if I leave the venue?

Re-entry policies vary by event, so plan to remain inside once your ticket is scanned. If you need to step out during an event, speak with Guest Services or door staff before exiting.

Is smoking allowed?

No. Smoking and vaping are not permitted inside any SAFE District venue.

Are the venues wheelchair accessible?

Yes. All venues feature accessible entrances and restrooms. The Performing Arts Center is accessible through both its L Street and K Street entrances. The Memorial Auditorium is accessible via the front ramp, with accessible seating on the main floor and select Dress Circle areas (sections 9/11 and 10/12), Braille signage, and patron drop-off on the 15th Street side; note that the historic building has no elevator or escalator access to the first or second balcony. Accessible seating is held for guests who need it until events reach 90% capacity. Full details here.

Are assistive listening devices available?

Yes. Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs) are available at no cost in the venue lobby — just bring an ID to hold as a deposit. For other accommodations, call (916) 808-5291.

Are service animals allowed?

Yes. Service animals are welcome in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and must remain under their handler’s control at all times.

What if I lost something at an event?

Call the Security Offices at 279-203-6068 with a description of the item, the date it was lost, and the building and general location. Lost and found items are catalogued and stored for 30 days at the Security Offices at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center loading dock, 1401 K Street. Details here.
